Last night I started putting shape to a vision statement for what I believe I have been called to do through the daily episodes of “God’s Mad Mad World.” So today I think that there is some merit in expanding on these elements of the vision statement
To make plain the Way of Jesus
The Gospel of Christ Jesus used to be a reasonably well known message. In 2010 I am not entirely confident that this is true anymore. The church has been so acculturated in most people’s perception as being irrelevant and Jesus the Christ, and His way of life is just not understood. This was shared just over the weekend by a friend who has had a number of people front at their ministry centre who had no understanding of how the Bible was constructed, drawn by the witness of Jesus love.
To encourage fellow believers on their way
I has been my experience that all believers at some stage feel that they are up against it, they doubt that they have been effective in their life as a follower of Jesus. Often this is about the deceiver twisting their thinking to make their witness as “unfruitful.” It has been a weekend of people sharing stories and another friend told of a birthday surprise when the family went to the beach. While on the beach a couple of people remembered my friend inviting them to try a particular church. They didn’t go for some time but eventually they did and found a valid relationship with the Son of God and were now active in the church. The comment was made that this was a birthday present to top any other.
To inspire all to follow more the Jesus Way
Jesus lives to enable us to regain our creation relationship with God. This is not just a status for believers but for anyone. The focus of this element is that it is aimed to both believers as well as non-believers because the way of Jesus is a lifestyle choice, particular to believers, and a relationship with God, specific for nonbelievers. The divisions are artificial but what makes it appropriate is that nonbelievers need to initiate relationship with Jesus and believers main witness is in the way that they live to attract nonbelievers to embrace the relationship of faith.
To stir up believers who may need to lift their game
Way too many so-called “Christians” are in name only. The question has been posed a number of times “if you were accused of being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?” In fact the Gospels contain many verses about false religion and the need to “pray the Lord of the Harvest for workers” and this level is aimed at this particular target, calling some to true faith and inspiring others to recognize that workers are required by God
Basic Game Plan: start with two or three people all over the world then multiply.
At Jesus baptism John the Baptist pointed out Jesus as the one who was to come. These two immediately went after Jesus and spent time with Him, Andrew, Peter’s brother, who then went to bring his brother to meet the Messiah. This is the basis of the game play, making a difference is just that simple, we just need it to happen like splitting a nuclear atom.
