~ Listen and Follow

For the last few days I have had a constant thought running around my consciousness.  While the theme has remained true the headline has changed frequently and even now it is not clear.
To recap for those who may not have discovered the significance of “MAD” in the Blog title it is an acronym for “Make A Difference” and it started out Daily.  Well that is not entirely true when the Master called me to this it was to be a Daily blog to which I shot back “where am I going to get the ideas.”  Some struggle ensued until I got to the point of saying “OK but You are going to provide the words to use.”
Needless to say for so many months He has done just that, God provided the words all I did was type.  In just so many ways it was similar to the maligned “auto-writing” only more so.  There have been times when my fingers did the running trying to keep up with the words that were coming out of my thought processes.  There have even been times when I have got out of bed in the middle of the night and written an entire 600 or so word blog because I was getting no peace in bed otherwise: I learnt to recognize those moments and act upon them.
So what was this theme/idea that has possessed me over recent days?  Simply this “listen and then write”.  For some time now I have been aware of attempting to be productive, often without prior inspiration.
It occurred to me today that this was God’s model for the prophets of the Old Testament.  Elijah spent a long time hiding from the wicked Jezebel who had a contract out on his head but when the time was right God brought them all together for a showdown to see who would be the God of Israel.
Isaiah was another who had a topsy turvy experience.  He was granted an audience with the Almighty and expected to be struck dead for what he had seen.  Instead he had a hot coal touched to his lips and made his sins go away. So when God asks who can He send Isaiah pipes up “me, me, me”.  It is a scene straight out of a good book but what does God say – it goes like this – He says tell the people.
"Listen hard, but you aren't going to get it; look hard, but you won't catch on.'
Make these people blockheads, with fingers in their ears and blindfolds on their eyes, So they won't see a thing,
won't hear a word,
So they won't have a clue about what's going on and, yes, so they won't turn around and be made whole."
Now I am not trying to suggest that I have the calling of a prophet; I am more like a catalyst I think.  However there is a certain link in that Our Father is the One for whom I write. I do not write about Him I write the words He gives me.  At a guess I figure that I could probably churn out a blog a day on many of the topics that have been covered in the 160 or so blogs that have been written, and yes some may “make a difference” for someone.  But the essential difference is that I would be stringing the words together instead of conveying a message that Father has given me.
I will continue to wait on the Master for he has the words of life for me and the Faith Community I believe he has called me to support.  It is He who makes this Mad Mad experience liveable and until He says enough I am content to be a finger tapping fo the Master His words for our time.
