~ The Spirit Imprisoned

Without trying to be pietistic I believe that there are a large percentage of Jesus followers who are living in prison.  This is not a physical imprisonment.  It is more the entrapment of the spirit in an environment that fails to acknowledge the truth that faith in Jesus can breed a freedom that is beyond any logical explanation.
Our Biblical history, sorry God’s History in the Bible is just beyond any experience that we may be able to accept without His enabling.  This enabling is available to all believers if we accept that all things are possible with God.
Of course the problem is that we have all been sold a pup that the Bible is “history,” you know it is in the past.  The thing is this is fine if we are treating the Bible as a piece of literature.  But if it is being read as God’s Word, as His Living Word, we immediately have a problem when it comes to the “impossible” events of the Bible.
You know the ones that I am talking about; a man who has been paralysed for 38 years suddenly gets up and walks.  Another who has been dead for four days and buried in a tomb walks out at the command of Jesus.  Not to mention the stories from the Old Testament like Moses being spoken to from a bush that appeared to be on fire even though it did not get burnt up, and the lepers, who sick of life, walked into an enemy camp figuring they would be killed only to find it abandoned and then went back to the city under siege where they had no refuge to save the inhabitants.
Father promises us so much from within His History that so often our opposition tries to make simple faith a complex matter.  Through Jesus He has made us sons and daughters, now think about that for a moment.  We were the reason that Jesus had to come and minister then finally to die.  We are a corrupted creation.  God could have just started over again and removed our propensity to rebel.  But no, He had such love for His creation and so although it broke His heart He let His Son surrender His life to enable us to be called members of God’s family.  Now logically you or I would never be able to do something like that would we?
Yet even though we can accept this truth by faith we fail to accept that there are things from the Bible that “logic” precludes.  Thomas in the upper room was told by the master that he believed because he saw but that others would come who would have to believe without seeing, Jesus called them (us) “blessed” by our faith.
The Master said some pretty amazing things really. Things that sounded pretty impossible at the time and probably still today.  His signs and wonders were the proof of His divinity yet in His parting comments to the disciples, and I for one choose to consider myself one, said that we would do even greater things than Hin when Holy Spirit came upon us.
The fact is that we imprison our spirit when we fail to take Father, and Jesus, at His word – outlandish as some of the messages may sound.  We need to be enabled to act upon God’s Word’s where we are and that means submitting our logic to His higher purpose.  His is the power and the grace He enables us to conquer against the enemy, in whatever form, that seeks to control our faith and keep others in a prison that is of their own making.
Father doesn’t need us to act out His purpose.  He chooses us to be His agents of change to make a different for those around us who are still in the dark.
Anyone know where the candles are?
