Being Open To Change
This piece being written as a blank
page exercise which I have done reasonably often over the years. I am facing a blank page and hoping to create
a piece of writing that fills the page but also that fits the two values of Mad
Mad World. Firstly that it inspires its
readers and also in some way, points to the Master and acts as a nexus between
the readers and the Master
I refuse to publish rubbish to titivate the readership of this blog. There has to be a little bit of definition to
the word change, or is that the concept of change. Today I counted the change in my drawer and
discovered that I had around $150 dollars sitting there. While not constituting a minor fortune it was
placed in there because it was just creating a drag on our wallets and my
pockets: at this point it could be used elsewhere to provide pleasure or at
least enhance someone’s financial position
Of course there is another understanding of the word
change. It is perhaps more pertinent to today’s
piece. The focus here is on our ability or not to make changes in our lives. We are people we are capable of recognizing
when we are in a situation that is not viable from time to time. When we arrive at that point are we ready to
act on the awareness or do we close our minds to the awareness and find another
situation?
When the Master created mankind He did so with the awareness
that we could easily chose to take another way to His. It must have been one of these heartbreaking decision.
He even gave us an “out clause” we could abide by His restrictions or we could
experience death. We know the outcome. The woman ate the restricted fruit and then
promptly gave it to the man. Suddenly,
they both became aware of what they had done and it was their awareness of
their nudity that revealed it to the Master.
Over history, God held out olive branches to the people He
created, and repeatedly we/they failed to live up to God’s offer and lived to
their new nature. They refused His outreach
to them. So now He has a come to a
simple solution. He delivered Christ Jesus
as our relational alternative. If we recognize
Jesus as our Saviour then we also restore our relationship to the Master.
There is also a second outcome that comes to bear upon our
lives which is the option of making things right with our friends, family,
neighbours and the world in general.
Face it we have made a mess of our world so the question becomes how
open are we to creating a new environment and fresh relationships?
