Regardless of our background, our status, or even how likable we are, we are all in need of spiritual transformation. Even people who have been Christians for decades are still being transformed. This is a lifelong process whereby God brings us to the next point where He wants us.
It may seem like some way of keeping us on our toes but those who have been following the Christ for a long time are the ones who, usually, are most aware of not just where they have come from but also of the changes that are still to be made in their lives.
Jesus came that He could reconnect this broken world and its people with His Father. He did this through His embracing all the pain and humiliation that a death on the cross meant. He did this, because as the only sinless Creature, He was all too well aware of how His Father, a Loving but Holy God, agonized over the rebellion of The men and women. He created to have relationship with and Knew that the only way for relationship to be restored was through the obedience to the death of one who was sinless in his attitude.
The point of Jesus death is that He provides a filter through which we can relate to and enjoy the presence of God in our lives. For, it is by our relationship with Jesus that we become acceptable to God, just as we are, forgiven.
The point of transformation is that we become aware of our insufficiencies, through the ministry of Holy Spirit, who Jesus gave us to help us grow and also to communicate with God. Without Holy Spirit we would each be in Struggle Street, attempting in our own power to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps as a result of the testimony of our innate conscience that we are so far short of what we would want, that is if we were God.
An external aspect of this issue is that we as His messengers have a responsibility to draw others lovingly to God, through Jesus Faith and this can be done two ways but the better way is to focus on the positives in that person’s life. It is possible to be judgemental and scare someone into doing a U Turn back to God. John the Baptist did so. But the God of Love who Jesus portrays tends more to say things like “It’s OK you are Healed” and “go and sin no more” or “come on let’s have a meal together”.
This is the eternal aspect of Jesus teaching and love. Yes we have blown it one way or another with God and we know it. Just like the first couple we resort to trying to hide hoping that He won’t notice. It is us hiding from God that breaks the communication cycle, not He who doesn’t want to know. It is also the way to persuade others of their need for God and His love.
So let us love one another, focus on the positive and build a community of love that reflects Our God and Master to create a welcoming environment for others to join.
