Those of you who have read my profile will have noticed that I have not be producing Blogs as I stated I intended to. The plain unvarnished truth is that lately domestic pressures have resulted in my general distraction. At the end of April we have to have found new accommodation to that we are in so we are spending a lot of time in the pursuit of said home
I must request your indulgence in this period of transition. I know that I have permission from Father to only publish when He gives me a subject.
But this does bring out an element of human experience. We are subject to getting distracted at any stage. It may not be a matter of life and death but no matter how crucial or motivated we are, we can be drawn from our focus by something that strikes our interest. Just as a point of example the dog has just come up and presented me with a ball to throw for her.
It is not always easy to stay focussed and as I am seriously distracted myself at the moment I can hardly say that it is always a bad thing to allow that little amount of grace when we do: subject of course to the type of distraction and how our spirit life reacts to that distraction.
Without doing a comprehensive survey I tend to feel that there is a little discrepancy between the following words from Jesus. In Luke 21 we see a parable aimed more at the religious leaders questions on authority
In Matt 6: 24-25 as part of the Sermon on the Mount He also said
You cannot be the slave of two masters! You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
I tell you not to worry about your life. Don't worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn't life more than food or clothing?
And in Luke 21:28-31 Jesus said:
I will tell you a story about a man who had two sons. Then you can tell me what you think. The father went to the older son and said, "Go work in the vineyard today!" 29 His son told him that he would not do it, but later he changed his mind and went. 30 The man then told his younger son to go work in the vineyard. The boy said he would, but he didn't go. 31Which one of the sons obeyed his father?
In the Sermon Jesus tells us not to worry about what to wear or what to eat. He went even further saying in Luke 12:29-31 “Don't keep worrying about having something to eat or drink. ... But put God's work first, and these things will be yours as well.” On the other hand the disobedient son changes his mind and did the day’s work possibly after taking care of what lead to telling his father no.
Point blank it seems that there is little connection between these two passages but in essence there may be in the context of this blog. We have to take time out of our day to investigate possible houses and this causes us to be distracted. We are not worried about the next house but it is a necessary distraction from the things that we have been focussing up to now. Jesus Question to the Rabbis, was who did the father will; the one who said yes but didn’t, or the one who said no and did.
I believe He is granting us grace to do the looking for a new location to continue the writing of this blog and that for the moment the blog is a part time enterprise as we look to relocate for the future. But for us this is not a worry so much as doing what we need to so we can continue into the future. I hope I am right on this one,
